Lauded by the music weeklies as a Scott Walker for the late-90s, with his chocolate chip vocals and sleazy tales of lacivious landladies and jobsworth public transport officials, Simon Warner in fact straddled the fag end of Britpop (he also smoked like a trooper on stage) with the emergence of the 21st century's acoustic troubadors.
