Sound Awake is an independent music program airing on KPFT (Pacifica Radio) 90.1 FM in Houston. Jeffrey Thames (aka the King of Grief) has been its sole host and producer since its debut in the early hours of Thanksgiving Day in 1996. Sound Awake currently broadcasts its mix of "intelligent freeform pop" from 1 to 3 PM Central on Tuesday afternoons; its second half, referred to as the Classic Club Hour, focuses on alternative dance hits primarily from the late 70s to early 90s.
