Sponge is an alternative/post-grunge band from Detroit, formed in 1991. All of the original members, except for drummer Jimmy Paluzzi, were a part of the hard rock band Loudhouse. Drummer-turned-vocalist Vinnie Dombroski became the frontman of Sponge after their previous band's demise.
