The Ak Band Concert History

Winners of the 1980 'Battle of the Bands' competition held at The Rainbow in London, The Ak Band were a tight three-piece ska band from Kenilworth, Warwickshire, United Kingdom, featuring bassist/vocalist Neville 'Nic' Slipper, guitarist Johnny Ak and drummer Max Walnut. Their prize for winning was a single on the B.O.B. record label: 'Pink Slippers' (1980). This, in turn led to a deal with RCA for whom they released the album Manhole Kids (1981) and two more singles.
