Their music is characterized by elements of indie-folk, lo-fi, psychedelic folk, and indie-pop. The Düsseldorf Düsterboys' style draws inspiration from the folk music of the 1960s and 1970s, with influences from psychedelic and anti-folk genres, as well as chamber music, tropicalismo, and bossa nova.
