Some years ago, The Genuine (jen-you-win) was born when husband and wife Matthew Allivato and Katelyn Allivato née Brouwer wrote their first song together entitled "The Spinning." In August of 2012, Devin Forkel added percussion during the recording of their first EP "Our Woodgrain Hearts." Not long thereafter, The Genuine grew again with the addition of Gunnar Nagle on guitar and vocals completing the band.
