The Kinks's 1965 Concert History

The Kinks is an iconic British rock band, formed in 1963 in North London by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. That year, the band, released its debut self-titled album with original members drummer Mick Avory (until 1984) and bassist Peter Quaife (until 1969). The album peaked at number 3 and included the hit single, “You Really Got Me,” the band’s first top 10 hit in the US and number one in the UK. With other hits like “All Day and All of the Night,” "Waterloo Sunset," "Death of a Clown," "A Well Respected Man," "Picture Book," and "Lola," The Kinks became a key figure in the 1960s counterculture. After the '60s, The Kinks experimented with a variety of new sounds producing diverse tracks like "Celluloid Heroes," "This Time Tomorrow, "Come Dancing," "Living on a Thin Line," "Destroyer," Father Christmas," and "Better Things.” The Kinks broke up in 1996 due to internal tensions, particularly between the Davies brothers.
