The Red Airplanes came together in October of 2004 when both singer/guitarist Nathan Walker and guitarist Chris Rocha were joined by guitarist Joel Carpenter. Based out of Beaumont and Houston Texas, TRA is not ashamed to be considered a Christian band, as their goal is to "challenge young and old alike to take their God given responsibility of reaching the world for Christ." This remains the group’s focal point since "there’s no room for rock-star egos" which Walker commented on in an interview with the Houston Chronicle.
