Keen to pick up a guitar again following his post-Parts & Labor noisy electronic solo output, Dan Friel formed the no-less-clamorous Upper Wilds. Comprised of Friel on guitar and vocals, Zach Lehrhoff (Ex Models) on bass and vocals, and Aaron Siegel on drums, the trio released their debut record via Thrill Jockey in 2017. Awash with distortion, fuzz, and space references, Guitar Module 2017 combined crushing volume with buried melodies bringing together elements of Friel's former band and his solo efforts.
