Wilko Johnson's 2000 Concert History

In the early 1970s, Wilko Johnson (July 12, 1947 – November 21, 2022) emerged as a pioneer within the pub rock movement. Initially, a guitarist, pianist, and singer-songwriter for Dr. Feelgood, he left the band in 1977 and formed Solid Senders and The Wilko Johnson Band. In 1980, he played guitar and performed backing vocals on Ian Dury & the Blockheads's third album "Laughter." On January 25, 2013, Johnson was diagnosed with cancer and given less than a year to live. Over the next year, Johnson began what he believed to be his final tour and created a farewell album with Roger Daltrey titled "Going Back Home" (also the name of a 1998 album released by The Wilko Johnson Band). At the 2014 Q Awards, he was honored with the Icon Award. There he announced he was "cancer-free." He lived for over 8 more years before finally passing away on November 21, 2022.
