Will Ridenour's 2017 Concert History

Will Ridenour is a musician of the kora, a 21-stringed harp-lute from West Africa. The strings are made of fishing line and they resonate through a large, halved calabash gourd stretched with a cowhide. Will began teaching himself in 1999 in his hometown of Greensboro, then in 2003 traveled to Senegal and Mali to study at the source. He learned traditional repertoire with teachers who are musicians, oral historians, and dispute negotiators known as jelis, or griots.
