Gwenno Mererid Saunders (born 23 May 1981) is a Welsh musician, known by the stage name Gwenno. She was born in Cardiff, and when growing up, her father spoke Cornish; her mother spoke Welsh. By 17, she was a cast member in Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance, playing a lead role in a Las Vegas production. Her recording career began with two solo EPs - Môr Hud in 2002 and Vodya in 2004. In 2005, she joined The Pipettes, remaining (and ultimately leading) the group through several personnel changes, until they broke up in 2010.
