Smash Mouth is an alternative rock band formed in San Jose, California, United States in 1994. Of the band's founding members only bassist and backing vocalist Paul De Lisle remains with Smash Mouth. Original lead vocalist Steve Harwell retired from the band in 2021 due to health issues and passed away of liver failure on September 3, 2021 at the age of 56.
