Tony Bennett (August 3, 1926 – July 21, 2023) is an American pop icon, who rose to fame in the 1950s. In that decade, he scored 3 dozen top 100 hit singles, including the number one hits “Because of You,” “Cold, Cold Heart,” and “Rags to Riches.” His most enduring hit "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" was released in 1962. Before retiring in 2021, he released 61 studio albums and over 80 singles, collaborating with many well-known artists including Lady Gaga. Together, they released “Cheek to Cheek” (2014) and “Love for Sale” (2021), Bennett’s final studio album. Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga performed as a duo between 2014 and 2021. Their August 3 and 5, 2021 concerts at Radio City were captured by CBS in the TV special "One Last Time: An Evening with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga". Throughout his life, Bennett also served in the US Army and was inducted into the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame in 2007. Bennett passed on July 21, 2023, at the age of 96, after seven years of battling Alzheimer's disease.
