Brandy Rayana Norwood (born 11 February 1979), known mononymously as Brandy, is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, model, and actress. Born in McComb, Mississippi, she was raised in Carson, California, in a musical family and began her career as a backing vocalist for teen groups. After signing with Atlantic Records in 1993, she released her self-titled debut album, "Brandy," the following year.
