Jimmy Buffett (December 25, 1946 – September 1, 2023) was a musician, author, and entrepreneur, well-known for popularizing Gulf and Western music and the "island escapism" lifestyle associated with it. Originally from Pascagoula, Mississippi, Buffett began his career in the late 1960s and early '70s busking on the streets of New Orleans and Key West. His unique style of music and stage presence quickly catapulted him to international stardom. By the 1980s, he often made more money from his shows than his gold and platinum albums. Until his death in 2023 at the age of 76, Buffett headlined over 40 tours, released over 20 Top 100 albums in the United States, and produced dozens of Top 40 Hits including "Margaritaville," "Cheeseburger in Paradise," and "Hey, Good Lookin'." During his career, he often performed with his "Coral Reefer Band", building one of the most dedicated fanbases in music history, with fans referring to themselves as "Parrotheads."
