Lars Ulrich (born December 26, 1963, in Gentofte Denmark) is 1963-12-26 heavy metal drummer and co-founder of Metallica. He was born to a middle-upper-class family in Denmark but moved to Los Angele at 16 to pursue a professional tennis career. However, within a couple of years of arriving in the United States, Ulrich met James Hetfield, and together they formed Metalica in 1981. It seems to have proved a good decision as Metallica has become of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed heavy metal bands in history. Both Hetfield and Ulrich remain members of the band.
