Alongside Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax, Slayer is considered one of the "Big Four Bands of Trash Metal." After releasing its debut album "Show Mercy" in 1983, Slayer began developing a cult following within the underground metal scene. The band's third album, "Reign in Blood" (1986) was the first to chart on the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at 94. Each of the next three albums charted higher than the last with "Divine Intervention" (1994) being the first to break the top ten. The band's twelfth and final studio album "Repentless" (2015) became the band's highest-ranking album, peaking at four. In 2018, the band embarked on a farewell tour with some of metal's biggest bands including Lamb of God, Behemoth, Testament, Napalm Death, Amon Amarth, and Cannibal Corpse. Slayer officially disbanded following the conclusion of the tour in November 2019.
