New Child was born in Harlem, New York in 1976. He along with his four brothers were raised by a single mother. At a young age, he started drinking alcohol and dealing and smoking hash and marijuana. His older brother used to take him with him to block parties which is where he discovered hip-hop and soon became a fan of rappers such as Big Daddy Kane, Chubb Rock, Kool G. Rap, KRS-One, Rakim and Shabazz.
