Chris Rea (born Christopher Anton Rea, March 4, 1951 - December 22, 2025) was an English rock & blues musician, originally from Middlesbrough, England. During his career, he became well known for his "gravel-voice" and use of a slide guitar. During his life, he released 25 studio albums and 75 single. Some of his biggest hits include "Driving Home for Christmas", "The Road to Hell", "On the Beach (Summer '88), and "Let's Dance." Despite touring extensively throughout the United Kingdom and Europe during his life, Chris Rea never toured the United States. On December 22, 2025, Rea passed away at the age of 74, only five days after releasing his final album, a Christmas-themed compilation titled "The Christmas Album".
