Australian Mike West formerly of Manchester (Madchester) indie band The Man From Delmonte who had a very large local following in the late 1980's and considerable national indie success but never quite managed to emulate other local bands of the time such as James, Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets and Happy Mondays. The Man from Delmonte were infamous for their sexually ambiguous (and often not so ambiguous) lyrics and clever lyrical wordplay as well as blistering live performances.
