A professional at twenty, he played with Charlie Musselwhite, Canned Heat (including at Woodstock), The Rolling Stones, and John Mayall before starting a solo career. Mandel is one of the first rock guitarists to use two-handed fretboard tapping.

Re the image of Harvey Mandel with Charlie Musselwhite. I don't think either man is in that photo. I just showed the image to Harvey, and he also thinks this is not a photo of him and Charlie is definitely NOT in that photo.
