The Saw Doctors are one of the most influential Irish rock bands to emerge in the last several decades. In 1990, the band released its first single "I Useta Lover." It peaked at number one on the Irish single charts and remains the best-selling single in the country. By 2011, the band had scored 18 Top 30 singles in Ireland with three reaching the top spot. In 2013, the band went on hiatus. They reunited for a 2016 tour that was postponed to the spring of 2017. The band went on another hiatus from touring but reunited for several shows in late 2022. In early 2023, the band announced a summer show in Manchester. Shortly thereafter, they were announced as headliners at the Mosley Folk & Arts Festival in Birmingham.
