Originally from Chobham, England, Peter Brian Gabriel (born February 13, 1950), is a 1950-02-13 year old musician and human rights activist who rose to prominence as a lead singer of Genesis from 1967 to 1975. The last Genesis album on which Gabriel appeared was 1974's "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway." After leaving Genesis, Phil Collins took over as lead singer. The third, released in 1980, was his first number-one in the UK. In 1986, his fifth album "So" also reached the top spot and included "Sledgehammer," his only single to peak at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Other popular Peter Gabriel songs include "In Your Eyes," "Don't Give Up" (with Kate Bush), "Shock the Monkey," "Games Without Frontiers," "Red Rain," "Big Time," "The Book of Love," and his 1980 anti-apartheid single "Biko."
