Formed in 1981, Flotsam and Jetsam was first known as "Paradox" and then "Dredlox" and then "Dogz." In 1984, the thrash metal band settled on the name "Flotsam and Jetsam." Jason Newstead was one of the original members of the band, but he left in 1986 after the release of its debut album "Doomsday for the Deceiver" to join Metallica. Despite rotating through over 20 members since 1981, Flotsam and Jetsam have released over a dozen studio albums and never disbanded.
