DUB MISSION--a weekly Sunday night party at Elbo Room in SF --was started in September of 1996 as an alternative to the typical reggae night. The idea was to present the more cutting-edge side of the music (i.e. all forms of dub and progressive roots) that had not been heard much in Bay Area clubs until then. Luckily this period of time has also coincided with a great resurgence of interest in dub through onstage performances and re-issues.
