Gene Smith (Ricky Ranchero) has been playing in Sacramento, CA since the eighties. His first playing adventures were in small pubs and coffee houses. He later joined with the band Kai Kln. Kai Kln was a Sacramento Band that won many awards and had a HUGE following of Faithful Fans. They opened for bands such as Primus, Nirvana, Blue Oyster Cult, Dinosaur Jr., Sublime-etc. When Kai Kln dis-banded, he played with FTRA(Freight Train Riders of America) with members of Okra Pickles, Las Pasadillas, and Ken Killian.
