Limp Bizkit is a nu metal band formed in Jacksonville, Florida by lead vocalist Fred Durst, dummer John Otto, and bassist Sam Rivers in 1994. After testing a few guitarists, the band selected Wes Borland in 1996. Also in that year, DJ Lethal joined the band. In 2006, the band went on a three-year hiatus. When Limp Bizkit reunited in 2009, founding members Durst, Otto, Borland, DJ Lethal, and Rivers all returned when Limp Bizkit reunited in 2009. DJ Lethal, however, departed in 2012 but returned in 2018 while health issues forced Rivers to depart from the band fro threes years between 2015 and 2018. On October 18, 2025, Rivers became the first core member of the band to pass away. He was 48 years old at the time of his death.
