John F. Savage Hall opened as the Centennial Hall in 1976. In 1988, the venue's name was changed in honor of alumni and famous Toledo businessman John F. Savage, who contributed handsomely to the Unversity of Toledo athletics department.
In 2008, the John F. Savage Hall was renamed to the Savage Arena, its current name.
