Fields of the Nephilim are an English gothic rock band formed in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, in 1984. The band's name refers to the biblical Nephilim and to the concept of magnetic fields around the Earth. In 1985, the band released the 12-inch EP "Burning the Fields" on their own Tower Release label, which was subsequently reissued through Jungle Records, leading to further studio recordings that formed the "Returning to Gehenna" EP.
