The Chicks (fka Dixie Chicks)'s 2003 Concert Photos

The Chicks is a country music trio that formed in Dallas, Texas in 1989. Since 1995, the line-up has consisted of Emily Strayer, her sister Martie Maguire, and Natalie Maines. Initially, the trio called themselves "Dixie Chicks" but changed their name to "The Chicks" on June 25, 2020, citing negative connotations between the word "Dixie" and American Slavery. Shortly thereafter, The Chicks released the single "March, March" in honor of multiple social justice movements. This was not the first time the trio used their platform for political activism. In 2003, The Chicks were blacklisted from thousands of country radio stations across the United States when they refused to support the US-led invasion of Iraq and expressed criticism of fellow Texan then-President George W. Bush. Some of The Chicks' most popular songs include "Wide Open Spaces," "Cowboy Take Me Away," "Gaslighter," "Travelin' Soldier," and it's cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" among many others.
