Gordon Lightfoot (born Gordon Meredith Lightfoot Jr., November 17, 1938 – May 1, 2023) was a pioneer of folk-rock music. Four years later, his single "Sundown" became his first number-one in the States. Over the next six decades, Lightfoot continued creating new music with his final album "Solo" dropping in 2020. Some of his most popular songs include "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald," "Carefree Highway," "Beautiful," "For Lovin' Me," and many others. After a long and successful career, Lightfoot passed away on May 1, 2023, at the age of 84. He died of natural causes amid declining health.
