Jethro Tull's 1973 Concert History

Jethro Tull are a British rock band formed in Blackpool, Lancashire, in 1967. Emerging from the British blues scene of the late 1960s, the band developed a style that incorporated elements of progressive rock, folk rock, hard rock, and classical music. Throughout their career, they underwent numerous stylistic changes while maintaining a distinctive musical identity. The group was founded and has been led by singer, flautist, guitarist, and songwriter Ian Anderson, whose flute playing became a defining feature of the band's sound.

Jethro Tull played the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, on Tuesday, May 29, 1973, as part of their A Passion Play tour. Following in the same style as the band's previous album Thick as a Brick (1972), A Passion Play was a concept album comprising individual songs arranged into a single continuous piece of music (which was split into two parts across the original vinyl release's two sides). The album's concept follows the spiritual journey of a recently deceased man in the afterlife, exploring themes of morality, religion and good and evil. The album's accompanying tour was considered the high-water mark of Jethro Tull's elaborate stage productions, involving a full performance of the album accompanied by physical props, sketches and projected video., Jethro Tull / Brewer and Shipley on May 29, 1973 [782-small]
