Nirvana's 1988 Concert History

In 1987, lead vocalist and guitarist Kurt Cobain formed Nirvana with bassist Krist Novoselic. After several failed attempts at finding a drummer, Cobain and Novoselic discovered David Grohl in 1990. The following year, Nirvana released the hit single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and the classic album "Nevermind," becoming leaders in the Seattle grunge music scene alongside bands like Screaming Trees, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. Despite global commercial and critical success, Cobain committed suicide in 1994, causing the disbandment of Nirvana. Grohl would go on to form the Foo Fighters while Novoselic has balanced his time between music and political activism.
