Poison is a glam rock band from Los Angeles. Formed by drummer Rikki Rockett and singer Bret Michaels. they started out in Pennsylvania in the early 80s. Their first band together was called the Spectres. They left the Spectres and started Paris with bassist Bobby Dall. They then moved to Los Angeles, where they parted ways with guitarist Matt Smith. Many people tried out for Poison's vacant lead guitar spot, including soon-to-be Guns N' Roses lead axeman Slash.

Poison began as a band called “Paris” in the early 1980s in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. In 1983, the band moved west to Los Angeles with a new name: “Poison.”
Poison was formed in 1983 when original band members moved to Los Angeles and begin seeking out a record deal. It took three years, but the band released their debut album Look What the Cat Dragged In on May 23, 1986.
Three of Poison’s founding members are still with the band:
Matt Smith was the lead guitarist of Poison between 1983 and 1985 when he was replaced by C.C. DeVille.
Poison’s first name as a band was Paris. But, when they moved to Los Angeles, they officially changed their name to Poison.
Not only did they change their band’s name but they also changed their appearance to make people “notice” them — and they eventually did.
Bret Michaels is one of the founding members of Poison. His birth name is Bret Michael Sychak, and was born on March 15, 1963. He is currently 61 years old.
Pamela Anderson dated Bret Michaels between 1993 and 1994. According to Anderson, they split up because of Bret’s interest in other women.
Rock Of Love with Bret Michaels was a dating reality television show where different women tried to win the heart of Poison’s frontman, Bret Michaels. The winner in Season 1 was Jes Rickleff followed by Ambre Lake in Season 2 and Taya Parker in Season 3.
Bret Michaels was born in Butler, Pennsylvania. He later moved to Los Angeles with his bandmates and is now living in Scottsdale, Arizona with a second home in California.
C.C. Deville’s birth name is Bruce Anthony Johannesson and he was born on May 14, 1962. When Matt Smith left Poison in 1985, C.C. Deville replaced him. He left the band in 1991 but returned in 1996.
“Every Rose Has Its Thorn” is a rock ballad written and sung by the band Poison. It was released in 1988 and was the third single on the band’s second album Open Up and Say…Ahh!”. Some famous artists have made notable covers of the song, including Miley Cyrus, Frank Rose, Shane Chisholm, and others.
Poison has had 1,327 concerts.
