In 2009, Queen found a new lead vocalist in American Idol finalist, Adam Lambert. This connection was first sparked during the eighth season of American Idol when band members Brian May and Roger Taylor performed "We Are the Champions" with both finalists, Lambert and Kris Allen, the eventual winner. The formation of "Queen + Adam Lambert" (Q+AL) added fresh energy to the band's enduring legacy, with reinventions of classics like "Somebody to Love." In 2012, the band embarked on its first tour with six shows between Kyiv, Moscow, Wrocław, and London. A 67-leg tour followed between 2014 and 2015 with a 24-leg Summer Festival Tour in 2016 and an 88-leg tour between 2017 and 2018. In 2019, the band began The Rhapsody Tour. Due to delays caused by COVID-19, many shows were rescheduled, with the tour ongoing through at least the Fall of 2023.
