Taylor Swift's 2021 Concert History

Originally from West Reading, Pennsylvania, Taylor Swift (born December 13, 1989) is a 34 year old musician, well-known for her narrative songwriting style and ability to elevate traditional pop-country sounds to new dimensions. After moving to Nashville at just 14 years old, she was signed by Big Machine Records which released her debut studio album in 2006. It became the first debut album written by a female country singer to go platinum in the US. Her next album "Fearless" was the first of twelve albums to consecutively peak at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. In 2018, her entire catalog was sold to a private investor. To regain control over her music, she re-released Fearless as "Fearless Taylor's Version" and her fourth album "Red" as "Red (Taylor's Version)" in 2021. Some of Swift's most popular songs include "All Too Well," "Cardigan," "Lover," "You Belong with Me," "Evermore" (featuring Bon Iver), "Love Story," "Shake It Off," "Ronan," and "Blank Space," among many others.

Why is Taylor Swift re-recording her songs?

Taylor Swift began her professional music career in 2004 when she was only 14 years old and had no experience in the music industry. At that time, she signed with Big Machine, giving the record label full ownership of and control over the master recordings she produced and released through them. This included all of the material on her first six albums.

After leaving Big Machine in 2018, Swift signed with Republic Records and Universal Music Group. A year later, Big Machine was sold to Scooter Braun who gained ownership of Swift’s master recordings. Swift attempted to buy them back, but Braun instead sold her entire catalog to a private investment firm.

To regain ownership of her material and prevent third parties from profiting off of the music she created, Swift began re-recording her earlier material in late 2020. On April 9, 2021, she released her first re-recorded album Fearless, which she re-titled Fearless (Taylor’s Version), followed by Red (Taylor’s Version) on November 12, 2021.

Her self-titled debut album was released on October 24, 2006, hitting number five on the US Billboard 200 chart. With singles like "Tim McGraw," "Our Song," and "Teardrops on My Guitar," Swift reached the radio airwaves and soon thereafter became one of the biggest pop-country artists in the world.
