I went with Mike D., Irving L., Bruce H., and a couple of others. Our tickets were way in the back, but we moved all the way up front as the bass riff on Cosmic Slop played. Mike fell ill later at the show.

I went with the woman I would marry in Dec. We’re still married. Thanks, Sananda!

Very intimate setting. Gregory had not been doing stand up in awhile.

Not sure about the date. But, I am about the year. BOA came on before Certain General. As CE finished their set, BOA joined them onstage for what was a guitar feedback noise fest.
I saw both bands a lot, mainly at CBGB. They hung out in Lucy’s on Ave A. Seems like the whole No Wave scene was in there playing pool.

PE was pushing their first album. Before they went on there was dancing w Red Alert , Melle Mel , and a few others up in the DJ booth. Red Alert threatened to stop spinning if “the Brooklyn Crew don’t stop stompin’ people!” The brothers were walking around in vented down jackets taking people’s money! I could sense the wagons circling.
PE came on after Cee and 1 or 2 other acts that did one song apiece. PE struggled up there. The music wasn’t danceable and the crowd wasn’t into the politics. Looking back, it was very experimental. But, Chuck D began haranguing the crowd, saying we were all “sleeping” and just putting us down. The crowd booed and yelled back. Seems like even the DJ didn’t love it. I love their first two albums, though.

I saw the Go-Betweens in New York City around 1987. Ireland's A House opened. These two bands could'n't have been more different.

When they came to the Ritz, Camper Van Beethoven came on before the Mighty Lemon Drops.
Also, there was a heckler in the audience when the Chameleons played. He threw Mark Burgess off his game a bit.
