Cookie	So, I left home at about 5.15pm yesterday after work. Rode my motor bike in and got awesome free parking out the front of the Hordern. Joined the queue and got chatting to a nice family from Wollongong. It was the two kids' first BIG concert. Civic the support band were pretty good. A damn fine showing, no pretense, just good rockin' stuff and will most likely listen to their stuff or grab some vinyl if it shows up. I was up close to the barrier and the lights dimmed a little and the boys made their way out on stage 9.10pm and the crowd went bat-shit crazy. The opener was Holiday in the Sun, one of my favs. The energy was mental and the slightly older middle-age crowd seemed to love every minute of slamming in the moshpit. Frank carter was brilliant taking lead vocal duties but everyone, or at least me was focused on Glenn Matlock (bass), Paul "Cookie" Cook (drums), and the beast Steve Jones (Guitar). The anthems that defined a generation flowed so effortlessly, Pretty Vacant, God save the Queen, EMI, Seventeen, New York, No Feelings, Problem and a host of deeper cuts. Mid-way thru their set, a feeling came over me that these three blokes giving it their all, were so important in not just music, but in history. So influential, not just another incredible gig, but part of how a generation grew up and reacted to the world. It was one of those VERY special events that, even in my mid-years, changed my life. The encore started slowly but was still full of fire and venom, Sex Pistols style. A cover of My Way, followed by the absolute belter Anarchy In The UK which had everyone losing their minds. Luckily, I managed to record it and get a few cool pics. Wish my brother and niece were there but, life happens. I hope everyone gets this sort of opportunity at some point in their lives. musicrob	Although Phil Collins walked out on the stage using a cane, and sat in a chair for roughly 80% of the concert, he still could sing his ass off. It was a great concert and his son Nicholas Collins filled in on the drums and was fantastic. He was joined by long time guitarist, Daryl Stuermer and bass guitar player Leland Sklar.
