 Brucefan24 Live: Scope Arena, Norfolk, Virginia 24 August 1983 | Live, Serious Moonlight Tour David Bowie performed at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, on 24 August 1983, as part of the Serious Moonlight Tour. It was the 59th date of the tour, which began on 18 May in Brussels, and the first of two consecutive nights at the Scope Arena. Bowie’s guitarists were Carlos Alomar and Earl Slick. Dave Lebolt was on keyboards and synthesizers, and Steve Elson, Stan Harrison, Lenny Pickett played saxophones. Carmine Rojas played bass guitar and Tony Thompson was on drums and percussion. George and Frank Simms were the backing singers.  Brucefan24 Dec. 2, 1983 – Genesis A massive crowd of 40,681 music fans were eating out of Phil Collins’ hand on Dec 2, 1983, during Genesis’ appearance at the Carrier Dome. When Collins ordered the crowd to “reach out,” they did. When he told fans to “wave their arms in the air to help the band get in touch with the ‘other side,” all of them did.  Brucefan24 Sept. 6, 1983 – David Bowie It is rare when the word “perfect” is used to describe a Carrier Dome concert. Reviewer Robert A. Baker used it, though, for David Bowie. “Everything came together for a perfect concert,” Baker wrote. “The stage and lighting effects were excellent.  Brucefan24 July 30, 1981 – Styx Although never a critic’s favorite, the rock band Styx was voted by a Gallup poll to be America’s most popular rock act in 1979. Syracuse agreed. More than 20,000 fans packed the Carrier Dome for the band’s performance. Sound issues were less apparent thanks to the band’s sound technicians.
