 Cookie This was a night I was REALLY looking forward to as it may well be Ahren Stringers' last gig with TAA for who knows how long? I arrived about 7 and got straight in as the doors opened at 5pm. Went straight to check out the merch, looking for a hoodie... the security asked, am I in the mosh pit area? I asked yes, why's that? He said, you'll have to join the queue which stretched all the way as far as I could see, so, fuck that, there's no hoodie anyways lol For We Came As Romans, I was about 1/2 way back in the Enmore. They put on such a great show and I kept thinking I had seen them supporting another act here in Sydney a few years ago, maybe SFTP or Mary Jane Kelly, oh well. they really stepped up and slayed their set tonight! Next up were a real surprise package Ice Nine Kills (the name comes from the 1963 Kurt Vonnegut's novel, Cat's Cradle) Didn't these boys put on one hell of a show, quite literally. With loads of props and making excellent use of the HD video screen behind the stage, it was like an episode of the gothic TV series American Horror Story. The way these fellas looked, I did not expect this!!! So good, even a cover of the 80's band Katrina and the Waves, Walking on Sunshine, which was really cool. Then, as I made my way down through the crowd, deep in the mosh pit, the crowd around me knew something special was about to happen...AND IT DID. The Amity boys just lifted another level to their stage performance. Incredible. Playing all of LTOTM and so many other bangers. Because of the recent death of my dear father Laurie, the song "Death's Hand" really got me emotional and I sang in absolute screams in the breakdown. "you're the one that kept me going, I owe you this much. You gave me the strength to say, Hey death, Get fucked" As I held my dad's hand as he slipped away...made me so angry and defeated that death had won. The Amity Affliction is absolutely the best live band and 6,000 fans could only agree. they finished off with Soak me in Bleach, a 100% killer track Can't wait to see them again next tour.
