 Christel Blakley Sheridan My husband and I had our first date at a Collin Raye concert at Magic Springs in the late summer or early fall of 1993.  Faye D This one was a keeper. My best friend and I had gone to a carnival in the afternoon before the show and she had won one of those old styrofoam pellet stuffed dogs with the black plastic flap ears. I told her to get rid of it before we went into the Coliseum, but she said no, she was going to throw it to DLR. I just laughed. We got split up after the show started (GA on the floor) and I ended up pressed up against this piece of stage that jutted out from the main stage. It was awesome. At one point, Eddie came out and was grabbing fans’ hands and I got hold of him and he probably thought I was never going to let go (I was, after all, a 15 year old girl, madly in love with him). What a great time! I met up with my friend after the show and she still had her carnival dog. I asked her why she hadn’t thrown it and she said she couldn’t because DLR had dripped sweat on it and now she had to keep it. Lol. Van Halen May 02, 2022

 Faye D This one was wild. The year 1986 is correct, but I’m not sure if it was May or June. I was in the Air Force, stationed at a tiny ground mobile ground radar site in Germany. We were fairly remote (for Germany) and never got any USO type of entertainment. One day, somebody came into the dorm and said a bunch of trucks were down the road at the ball field setting up stuff. This was totally unannounced. That evening, CDB put on a full blown free show for all of us, lights and everything. It lasted a couple hours and just kicked butt. He came out there to see us.  Faye D This was a good show by both bands, but the acts were pretty mismatched. Huey Lewis did a good job, this was just before he hit it big, but the biker crowd that showed up for the Doobies definitely did not appreciate his talents.  Faye D This show actually got bad reviews in the Star Tribune. I thought he kicked butt. His voice was great, very powerful still and he stood up there for hours, singing, without relying on a lot of chatter and storytelling to pad the time. He sang long and he sang well. I think it’s pretty pathetic when people knock an old man’s performance because he’s not dancing and performing tricks while he sings for them. This was an excellent show and I’d go see him again.  Faye D This is one of the worst concerts I have ever seen. I’m a big fan the Clash’s music, but this was bad. The music was loud and distorted, it didn’t look like the band knew the set list, so there wasn’t a smooth transition from song to song. I guess the band was going through a lot of internal strife at the time and I think Topper Headon and Mick Jones both left sometime around then, but either way, the show was bad.
