 Margie Davis This concert was not just the Cult. The evening started with Dangerous Toys, which is one of the reasons my friend wanted to go. The drummer Mark Geary is married to her 1st cousin. Both of us were in their wedding. They were a bit disappointing, screaming out of pitch and all. Then came Bonham, which is main reason I agreed to go along with my friend. I respect Jason Bonham and their set really rocked. Then came The Cult which I was not too familiar with but I did know a few tunes. The singer is a very nice looking man and I loved it when he pulled that ponytail free and let his hair flow on Edie, the song I recognized. Also loved Sweet Soul Sister. Long night. We were supposed to go to the band bus to talk to Mark but he poked his head out the door to say hi & let us know that everyone on the bus had a virus and felt awful. Toys looked awful on stage so he was bound to be telling the truth. Poor guys! They are still trying to make it. All of them 70 years old now! Bless their hearts!  Margie Davis STYX was the highlight of this concert & the only reason we attended...well, we did have complimentary tickets from Q102 FM. Styx was stunning in their music and vocals & I'm so glad my (ex-)college roomie from Illinois had turned me on to them two yrs prior to this concert. Lots of Texans had no idea about Styx's power vocals & musicianship. The down part of the evening was the kids only there for KISS. They were dressed up like KISS & voicing disdain for Styx. I tried to ignore them. When KISS came on it was a bit overwhelming especially when the drums stage shot off the stage into the audience. Gene whats his name's tongue was so gross but the kids behind us were going nuts. One boy kept saying he needed to "piss" but would not miss a single moment seeing the band. A little later we heard and felt a splatter like someone dropped their drink but it was the boy taking a piss right there on the floor! It was getting on us! We had to leave.  Margie Davis It was HOT and the concessions ran out of drinks before the concert even started. I waited in line to buy a bag of ice for $5 (unheard of back then) and the guy 3 ft ahead of me got the last one. No food, no beer, no water. How did we make it? Oooo, that smell! Only in Austin. Maybe I had some gum. Carlos Santana ripped his guitar & said, "If you can beat that, come up on the stage and show us."
