markdewine My memory of this concert centers on "two drummers." I walked into the H.I.C., a circular venue, and proceeded around the loge level to behind the stage, and noticed two drum sets, side by side, identical to one another. "Interesting", I thought. Being a percussionist myself, I chose to sit BEHIND the performers during the show, to see what this was all about. Well, from the first note to the last, these two drummers played IDENTICAL performances! I watched carefully, and every stick stroke, every kick beat and cymbal crash were played in unison. WOW! Never saw it before that, with any rock group; nor ever again. Can only guess one studio drummer was training another. What do you think? Oh, and BTW, the concert, overall, was tremendous! :) Steely Dan Mar 30, 2020
markdewine This was billed as a "Farewell Concert" because Kenny and Jim had at that point decided to return to California, and go their separate ways. (of course they did go on to do some more work together, after all). Anyway, the crowd was under the assumption that this would be Loggins & Messina's last concert ever. So, the two played a great show...Vahevahla, House at Pooh Corner, Your Mama Don't Dance, all their hits. Then they came out for their encore, and played another half hour, going through their set-list again. The crowd was throwing flower leis on the stage by the ton. Kenny and Jim were wearing ten or fifteen leis each, and wading through a bunch at their feet. They played about three MORE encores, until the management at the arena said they had to shut down, due to city codes. The band said they would "play through the night" for us, if they could. There was not a dry eye in the house. VERY emotional concert. Mahalo and Aloha to Loggins & Messina. Loggins & Messina Mar 30, 2020
markdewine My only clear memory of this concert was that I went with my 'new' girlfriend, Sue. During "Jim Dandy to the Rescue", she tapped me on the shoulder, pointed to the lead singer (whose name escapes me), and shouts in my ear, "I'd let him put his shoes under my bed tonight." I laughed and thought, "Whatever." Great concert though. Black Oak Arkansas / Charlie Daniels Mar 30, 2020
markdewine I remember driving north from Bismarck for what seemed like forever, to see this concert. Head East performed first, and they just tore it up! Fabulous show! Then Montrose took the stage, and for whatever reason, they were 'lack-luster', at best. I remember the crowd roaring for Head East to take the stage again! Head East alone, was worth the ticket price, (probably around $12) and the "forever" round-trip. LOL Montrose / Head East Mar 30, 2020
