G Lynch I vaguely remember seeing this show and remembering them living up to their band name. The performance was fast and short. And I recall at the time thinking what a CHEAP TRICK they had been to the consumers who bought tickets. I can't recall who else was playing that night and I don't believe they were headliners. But one thing I do recall was that within a year of their concert they were a huge act. Cheap Trick Sep 26, 2025

DedHed3 Attended Cal Jam2 this time without tripping. It was a beautiful sunny day with even more people than the first,350,000. Plastic bottles were passed out and when the folks in front wouldn’t sit and the ones in back wouldn’t stand thousands of white water bottles went flying around like moths. If there was still water in them gallon jugs it wasn’t fun getting hit. CAL JAM 2 Sep 25, 2025

DedHed3 250,000 were there. Got there early morning and waited to get a spot near the soundboard. Split window pane with my brother,he was mellow but I freaked out during Black Oak Arkansas when they dropped sun visors from a helicopter. I called my mother by butting in line for the pay phone. Later when I saw her driving across the speedway in the family station I was 22 at the time. My Bro and Buds got there early in the morning, I like to be near the sound board. I split a window pane and freaked out when Black Oak dropped sun visors from a helicopter. Sabbath looked like animals scrambling about. I butted in line at the pay phone and called my mother. By the time I saw her driving across the track I had come down. After becoming Jesus and drinking tequila thinking it was water I returned to the show with 250,000 other rockers. That was 50 years ago! California Jam 1974 Sep 25, 2025

CarolineFedigan So cool seeing John Williams music live & all of the lightsabers everywhere during the show, definitely a rare experience that was so great about the venue being an amphitheater Los Angeles Philharmonic / David Newman Sep 25, 2025
CarolineFedigan This is some of the best concert lighting i’ve ever seen. As a designer myself it told such a story and was really beautiful. I love also how Rex had us put our phones away for Best Friend to be more in the moment. Rex Orange County Sep 25, 2025
