The Crue were the headliners, they had paid their dues, came up through the ranks, and it was their tour. But Whitesnake was about to explode! They had a hit album “Whitesnake”, which would go 8X Platinum in the next year. Their first single “Here I Go Again”, just went to No.#1 that month! They made a presentation that night and presented the band with their Gold Records during their set. But The Crue weren’t going to let the openers steal anymore of their thunder. During Whitesnake’s last song, they TURNED ON THE HOUSE LIGHTS while the band was still playing. Why? So they wouldn’t get an encore, that’s why. They finished the last song with all the lights in The Forum on. How weak is that? I felt so bad for them. There was a large curtain that sorrounded the stage for the set change between bands. The second Whitesnake ended their last song (with the house lights on), the curtain closed. That was unbelievable. The sold out crowd was shocked. All is fair in love and war eh?

Great Show loved the opening act but for the life of me I can't remember their name. They were brothers and the steel guitarist was fantastic. They played a couple of tunes with EC and you could tell he loved the steel guitarist too. Billy Preston Played keyboards and they were doing a set where all the musicians did a short solo and when it got to Billy's solo he spaced it and played "Roll out the Barrel" I can read lips and EC asked what that was about and Billy replied I zoned out, man. I loved every minute of the show and I know Judy Garland's "Over the Rainbow" was voted No# 1 of all the tunes of the 20th Century but Eric Clapton's version is so much better. If you're interested in listening to it he has it recorded on his "Forever Man" CD.

Is that how they always do their set lists? Is that just how one person in the band does them? (I am very interested in this)

this was one of the best concerts I ever enjoyed with one of the worst dates I ever endured. I bought a T-shirt and DVD, got both autographed. That mirror suit and his rotating stage were Mesmerizing and I will never forget his deep, soulful performance
