HanzDieter	Post on Dirty Denims FB Account 28.05.2025: Last month I had 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝘀 of my life. Something happened on stage that, in nearly 20 years of performing, I’ve never experienced before. We were playing at Kulturrampe Krefeld with Grande Royale — always a fun night, always good vibes. They’re such great guys and killer musicians. We had a smooth soundcheck, and then got treated to a lovely meal in a beautiful garden. Jeroen and I shared almost everything on our plates — a great start to what promised to be a great evening. Dinner was done around 20:00, and we were set to hit the stage at 21:00. So I changed into my new stage outfit and got into the pre-show mode: 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗸. Right before showtime, my stomach started acting up a little. Nothing major, just a 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴. But hey, I sometimes get that before a gig — maybe it’s nerves, even though I rarely feel nervous. I shrugged it off. Let's go! We kicked off the set with Ready Steady Go!, as usual, and the crowd looked great — smiles, energy, that Krefeld magic. But after a few songs, I started to feel… off. “𝗛𝗺𝗺… 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱,” I thought, “but whatever, keep going. The adrenaline and crowd will carry me through.” But then we hit Devil In Me, and during Jeroen’s epic guitar solo, it hit me. Not the emotion. Not the inspiration. Nope… I turned around and threw up on stage. 𝗬𝗲𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱. (And no, Jeroen — it wasn’t your solo. It was great, I swear!) Luckily, I managed to turn toward the wall behind me just in time. And also luckily, Suzanne was sitting more to the right that night. 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱. The band barely noticed. Jeroen later told me he thought I had spilled my water and was calmly cleaning it up. “ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴?” he wondered, mid-riff. You probably know how that right afterwards you feel much better. A few seconds later I found myself singing again. Business as usual. Well… kind of. The folks in the front row were 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱. And honestly? So was I. Towards the end of the set, the sick feeling crept back in. But I made it through the full show and the encore. Barely. The rest of the night? Let's just say 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘆. Over. And over. And over again. No idea what caused it — the food seemed fine, nobody else got sick. A complete mystery. A very…𝘄𝗲𝘁… 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆. Should I share more details? Nah, I’ll spare you. 😅 So now I can officially say: I once puked on stage. 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗸 ’𝗻 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹, 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁? Spoiler alert: it’s not. It felt awful. Zero cool points. And just to clear something up — because yes, this happens every time a woman throws up in public — no, I’m not pregnant.
