David Bowie (born David Robert Jones, in Brixton, London, on January 8, 1947) was a British singer-songwriter often regarded as one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. He achieved his breakthrough with the 1969 song "Space Oddity," his first number-one hit single in the UK.
