Pretenders are a rock band who came to prominence during the punk and new wave movement of the late 1970s due to their innovative songwriting and charismatic performances. 04/08/1980, Austin's Armadillo Hqtrs. My claim to fame is Martin Chambers, on this night, could not hold on to his drumsticks. One of them, spinning wildly, hit me right on my face. Documented on "The Daily Texan", Monday, April 14, 1980 edition, p. 21.

That night, Chrissy was dark, almost spitting flames. My friend said, wow, Iggy Pop's sister! LOL.

Sounds like a good show! I believe the original guitarist and bassist were still with them then. I know there was quite a few shows at UMASS around that time, as well.
