Mike D. Met him after the show to autograph his debut CD. A very gracious and humble young man, and extremely talented! Jake Shimabukuro Jan 28, 2026
J J I was at this show and it was awesome. I especially remember that Rory played Philby, one of my favorite songs, on his Danelectro electric sitar. Rush / Rory Gallagher Jan 28, 2026

Warren Gilbank I remember this so well. Walking past the venue and I noticed the band playing pool and said hi and I’d seen them at the Town & Country Club in March. Great gig and i bought a fab tee shirt - U.S. tour dates etc and left in someone’s car !! The La’s Jan 28, 2026

Papi I went to this show to interview the warm up act: Bob Seger. I grew up in Michigan, just a bike ride from the Hideout where I saw Bob and many other local Detroit rockers. Our interview went on until the Guess Who started. Bob suggested I get out there and check them out. I dismissed the suggestion calling them a "singles band" .....Bob told me the were much better than that and encouraged me to check them out. Damn if he wasn't right. What a great band. Burton Cumming nailed the vocals and they were tight as a snare drum.....Saw Bob at a show at GVSC about a year later....."I told you so" was the theme of that visit The Guess Who Jan 28, 2026
GaryAura My mates & I had been passing around early Ants singles in the playground at school: So we decided to go see them. This was the classic "Dirk Wears White Soxs' era for Adam & The Ants - When they were still considered an original New Wave act. - The Ants were very memorable - Adam in leather jacket posing wildly while singing - The band pretty tight playing tunes like: Xerox, Cartrouble, Kick, Day I met God, Cleopatra; all classic tracks. - To be honest; all the support acts were a bit of a blur, and I not remember anything about them. After all, we'd come to see The Ants...!! Adam And The Ants / Classix Nouveaux / A Certain Ratio / The Distractions / Manicured Noise Jan 28, 2026
GaryAura mates & I had been passing around early Ants singles in the playground at school: So we decided to go see them. This was the classic "Dirk Wears White Soxs' era for Adam & The Ants - When they were still considered an original New Wave act. I don't remember The Monochrome Set, but I did later buy a few of their singles, so they must have made some impression on me. The Angelic Upstarts had a fair contingent of skinhead fans in crowd- And I just remember them as noisy &:threatening - The Ants were very memorable - Adam in leather jacket posing wildly while singing - The band pretty tight playing tunes like: Xerox, Cartrouble, Kick, Day I met God, Cleopatra; all classic tracks. - I think it was at this gig where there was trouble between a few of Angelic Upstarts skinheads and the band. Which resulted with couple of band members jumping off stage into the crowd and throwing a few punches. Bunch of Bouncers/Roadies stopped it very quickly, & couple of punters were dragged off by security guards and band members climbed back on the stage and gig carried on. My mates & I were very young back then, and so we stayed towards back of the crowd, as there were quite a few intimidating looking characters there (mostly skinheads) who gave the gig a bit of a dangerous vibe that night. Still, band were good. I gotta add that the 'Setlists' for this gig by supporting acts (Upstarts & Mono Set) are way too long. There was no way these bands had enough time to play so many songs...!! Adam And The Ants / Angelic Upstarts / The Monochrome Set Jan 28, 2026
GaryAura This was the classic "Dirk Wears White Soxs' era for Adam & The Ants - When they were still considered an original New Wave act. To my shame, I don't remember 'The Ruts' playing - I think it because they not released any records yet. So they were an unknown act at that time & I not pay them any attention. Whereas The Ants were very memorable - Adam in leather jacket posing wildly while singing - The band pretty tight playing tunes like: Xerox, Cartrouble, Kick, Day I met God, Cleopatra.  GaryAura I'd seen The Stranglers a couple times before this gig, but I can't remember where and when exactly? This gig I remember because I didn't like it. Gone were the 'Rattus' and 'No More Heroes' eras, and band were playing tracks from Raven & Meninblack LPs (not my favourites). They did do couple tracks from 'Black & White" LP: But only 'Tank' any good. The only track I really enjoyed hearing was "Hanging Around", & I think they did "No More Heroes" in encore? Overall it was disappointing gig for me. Stranglers were not the same band anymore & were going in a different direction to their earlier rocking sound. They got too weird for me. This was the last gig I'd see them...!! The Stranglers Jan 28, 2026
GaryAura I went to a lot of gigs at Lyceum Ballroom in late 70s, early 80s. Great venue, with wooden dance floor in front of stage, balconies around side, and a bar at the back serving beer in plastic pint glasses. This gig started memorably, with a band I'd never heard of, and never heard of since: "Fourth Reich" (poor name). This was because the lead singer got a blow-job on stage while he was singing...! Not sure if the girl was in the band or not? Think she was. And that's all I remember about that band. I was big fan of Slaughter & The Dogs, but I don't remember them playing. I think they pulled out the gig (maybe somebody tell me). UK Subs put on a great show. Played classics like: C.I.D, Live in a Car, Stranglehold, Rockers, Tomorrow's Girls, and probably all tracks from their 'Another Kind of Blues" LP - Many tracks delivered quickly & fast paced. Charlie Harper great front man & got crowd going. Subs provided a hgh energy gig. UK Subs / Slaughter & The Dogs / Cyanide & the Fourth Reich Jan 28, 2026
GaryAura Don't remember Everest - I do remember Flock of Seagulls - The blonde haired singer stood out & their tunes were quite catchy - Though the sound system that night wasn't great & it was hard to identify songs. - Same when Psychedelic Furs came on - The sound was very loud and distorted - And as the Furs were a a big band with two guitars, saxophone, keyboards, bass, drums, many of their tracks produced a wall of sound, like in tracks 'Into you like a Train', 'Dumb Waiters', etc, so, with the bad P A. it was sometimes difficult to hear what song was being played. Keep in mind you'd leave most gigs in those days with your ears ringing. I did make out 'Sister Europe', 'India' and my favourite track 'The Fall' - But overall the gig was a bit of a blur...!! Shame, as I loved Psychedelic Furs...!! The Psychedelic Furs / Flock Of Seagulls / Everest the Hard Way Jan 28, 2026

Dzach I was there as a kid. In the second game of the doubleheader a couple extra thousand people showed up. Mel Hall walked the second game with a HR. The upper deck empty at the start, By the 9th it was much more packed. I remember listening to Ohio when I asked I'm what was that smell and my cousin asked and why are all those people sharing the same cigarette. Dad just said time to go. It took a few more years before I understood what happened. Now it's legal and I smoked with my dad he said Mom made him quit in 1984. I think the last straw might not have been his fault.  Tboli Had a chance to chat with Kevin Kinney after the show. Nice Guy! Drivin' n' Cryin' Jan 28, 2026
Tboli The Tragically Hip appeared because Duke Robillard had to cancel. The Hip only played 3 songs (New Orleans is Sinking, Fight, Poets) but jammed with both Ackroyd and Musselwhite, Very memorial show as we just moved to Kingston that day so that my partner could do her Masters at Queens.  stephenhuerta 01/27/2026: This show is happening in GDL on March 06. As of today, no word on the venue, but the show is confirmed by members of Vinn Sabb and Purple Hermits , who are good friends of mine. They both gave me the heads up. I believe the headliner may be Apocalipsis, and according to Juan Tamayo, Apocalipsis are legends in CDMX. Oh man!, what a show. When I was told that Vinn Sabb and Apocalipsis were playing together in GDL, the first thing that came to mind was, that I hope that Purple Hermits are invited to the bill. When I spoke to Oleg, the guitarist of PH, when we were making plans to meet at Godspeed You! in GDL, he mentioned that PH was also on the bill with Vinn Sabb and Apocolipsis. I am definitely overjoyed to know that three amazing bands are playing together for one night in GDL. There’s no way I’m missing this show. The promoters have yet to announced the venue, but they will, very soon. It’s been over years since I last saw Vinnum Sabbathi, so I’m overdue. Only saw Purple Hermits once in 2024, they blew me away, so I’m ready for them too. I’ve never seen Apocalipsis before, but I’m sure they’re good.
